Due Diligence Audit Fundamentals

A six-week cohort that trains reviewers to run a financial auditing app as a due diligence workbench—not a filing cabinet.

What you will leave able to do

  • Scope a binder in hours, not days

Prioritize accounts by deal risk and map them to app folders with clear owners.

  • Test with defendable samples

Document why items entered or left the sample before anyone asks.

  • Publish findings that survive edits

Write quantified issues with evidence links reviewers can reopen without hunting.

Curriculum outline

  1. Diligence framing & app orientation

Roles, timelines, and how exception queues differ from year-end audit files.

  2. Scoping and materiality under deal pressure

Build a risk heat map and translate it into binder structure.

  3. Revenue bridges and cutoff testing

Work a messy export through sampling tags and reviewer comments.

  4. Working capital & one-time adjustments

Track seller claims without losing the audit trail.

  5. Findings drafting clinic

Peer critique of tone, quantification, and counsel handoff language.

  6. Capstone mini-binder

Submit a packaged review for instructor annotation.

Learner notes

“Module three’s cutoff drill mirrored a deal we closed last spring. I finally had language for why we expanded the sample mid-week.”

— Jordan P., senior associate

“Strong on app navigation. The inventory existence case is thinner than I hoped—plan to supplement with your own industry examples.”

— Rina, Kaohsiung

FAQ

Do I need a specific auditing app license?

You need access to a financial auditing workspace your employer already uses. We demonstrate patterns that transfer across major tools; we do not provide vendor licenses.

Is this suitable for first-year auditors?

Yes if you have completed at least one busy season or diligence support rotation. Absolute beginners may find the pacing steep.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not cover full IFRS conversion projects or tax due diligence. Those require specialist tracks outside this syllabus.

Can teams share one seat?

No. Each reviewer needs their own seat for capstone feedback. Team pricing is available via Continuity Retainer on the pricing page.
